Another Useless Blog

Zam On November - 11 - 2009

Okay, its been a month since i had this MZ125SM. Is a supermoto but with only 125cc engine. Its modded but recently the CDI and Rectifire malfunction. Rectifier was replaced with a new unit from VS125 scooter/moped and the CDI is the original cdi .

One humangous problem with the CDI is, its the wrong model. It has two extra wires to the speed sensor. When unpluged, it allow the bike to go beyond 80kmh (80kmh variant CDI cut-off) but limit the rev to 6500. Its like the bike safety features and its driving me nuts !

Im a speed junkie so riding from KL to Malacca for 2 hours and 30 minutes averaging speed around 105kmh is really frustrating, torturing mentally and physically . Even with the original CDI which doesnt have speed limit, the bike maximum speed is around 140-150kmh. I need a bigger bike and maybe a sportbike instead of motard. Anyway, lets review :

Town

  • Easy to ride or weaving in and out of traffic
  • Lots of low end torque means great acceleration
  • High chasis is great for jumps or bumps. You dont even have to brake
  • Easier to enter corners

Highway / Long Range

  • The speedcut at 112kmh is a pain in the a@@. Without the speedcut, average of 130-140kmh is possible. With the speedcut, its rather impossible to pass trailers or any other heavy vehicles . Imagine that you are riding 3-4 feets from tires that bigger than you ! scary scene !!!
  • Vibrations not that strong. Much smoother than FXR150
  • Fuel is super economy. Only rm8 from KL to Malacca. Not bad but keep in mind that i only riding around 105-112kmh the whole way.
  • Wind factor is crucial. Since supermoto doesnt have any wind protection, you gonna feel the wind gushing to you from direction.  I cant imagine how those higher cc supermoto constantly 160-180kmh at the highway without any wind protection . (>_<)”
